The Optimism Society

I tend to err on the negative side of things. But when people ask me or tell me I'm negative. I use to tell them I was a realist. These days I like to think I'm more alternative than negative. There's a difference, and I hope to explain it.

Cease the day!

It’s what I learnt from my mother. But it isn’t because she did. She didn’t even tell me so. It’s because she didn’t. She lived a life of regret, sadness and some lies thrown in for that added excitement. Fortunately I was blessed with just enough intelligence to understand that this isn’t right and it's not the best way to live your life. I learnt very early in my life that I have to live everyday to its best, its fullest and look back on the day to say “Well done!”.

I want you to understand, I’m not on a mission to fight evil powers. I’m not a born again or anything like that. I don’t stand in front of the mirror each morning reminding myself how good I am. I’m just enlightened by this knowledge that I could only receive by viewing someone else suffer from it. That isn't to say that it was only from someone else's suffering. I have suffered too. Various battles throughout my life left a scar and each day the wounds remind me constantly not to return to that place. A place that I only got to because of what I saw and what I knew as the norm though nothing more than living under the same roof as those who also suffered the same fate.

What happens when an Apple dies? A penguin comes along and gobbles it up

I thought I'd convey my thoughts on this, as it has been a reoccurring thing of late. As most people are aware, I'm an Apple Mac fan boi. If it's shiny and from Apple, I'll probably line up for it. While I'm not as early as an adopter as some. I do like to have the latest and greatest. But sometimes the finances can't justify it and I do without... more importantly I do with what I have, which is more than capable, but we don't brand ourselves as "consumers" for no reason.

Adelaide - Day 4

I woke up at 9am, ready for the day ahead. Breakfast planned at the café we went to not so long ago. Jack wanted to see his mate off personally and I was hungry. So breakfast was really sort after. Only, the plan failed and I resorted to having some more muesli. Which was fine, but I was looking forward to a nice cooked, warm meal.

Jack woke up soon after me. I had already showered by this stage and was starting to look at packing up my items. I covered up Jack’s computer after the last tape we did and we prepared for the trip by packing the back of the ute with a strategy. The ute was packed by 10:30 and we hung around the place for a bit, as if saying good bye for good. Had a coffee and we were off.

Adelaide - Day 3

Wednesday. Another beautiful day in the Adelaide Hills. Jack and I had some major work to do today and there was no room for messing about. The table needs to be completed. The floors in the gallery are going to be polished and coated again and more tapes will be captured to the Mac Pro.

First thing was first. Breakfast! I had my shot of muesli and kick started my day into full flight with some tapes. While doing that, I went through and imported a bucket load more photos from iPhoto to Aperture as well as from all of Jack’s collection of external hard drives. Yes, there was more.

Adelaide - Day 2

I woke up naturally this morning for the first time in a long time. The main reason dare I say it was most likely because I slept unbroken, in one stint the entire night. Thankful for it, I decided to get up and get dressed. Metres away, Jack was asleep and had probably stayed up burning the midnight oil working on more of his pieces in preparation for his new book.
